Paul Thomas Anderson Writing For Robert Downey Jr's Pinocchio

Robert Downey Jr. has been attached to star as Geppetto in a new live-action Pinocchio movie.

This adaptation has been in the works for years by Warner Bros. and Team Downey, but they may have found the right fit with Paul Thomas Anderson stepping in to re-write for the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As Anderson has seldom write but without directing, it is definitely possible that he will be on the director's chair for this one too.

Although Anderson may seem like a weird choice (think Inherent Vice, There Will Be Blood, Magnolia, Boogie Nights), but then think of what Anderson could do with a property like Pinocchio. Either it's going to reinvent this classic story that we all know, or it could take a wrong turn and bore the audience to death, seeing as his movies tend to be very slow-burn.

I'm guessing as long as the studios green light Anderson's draft, they will also green light him directing.
