Colin Trevorrow Set To Direct Star Wars: Episode IX
Announced at Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Lucasfilm / Star Wars portion, Disney Chairman Alan Horn announced that Colin Trevorrow will be directing Star Wars: Episode IX.
The movie is set for a 2019 summer release but Trevorrow will begin working with Lucasfilm soon.
Trevorrow himself said the following: "This is not a job or an assignment. It is a seat at a campfire, surrounded by an extraordinary group of storytellers, filmmakers, artists and crafts people. We've been charged with telling new stories for a younger generation because they deserve what we all had - a mythology to call their own. We will do this by channeling something George Lucas instilled in all of us: boundless creativity, pure invetion and hope."
After seeing how Jurassic World turned out, it's not a wonder that Trevorrow is in every studio's radar. Is Star Wars a good fit for him though? I don't see it yet but I'm sure Disney and Lucasfilm sees something in him that could bring about a great ending to one of the greatest, who am I kidding - the greatest, sci-fi trilogy of this generation.
