Absolutely Anything (3.5/10)
Absolutely Anything is not a good movie at all. And all the failure came from a director who somehow has lost the competency in telling a story from behind the camera.
Unfortunately, that director is Terry Jones. Well known for his work in Monty Python series, but hasn't directed a full-length feature film in over 20 years. I am not familiar with his work at all so I don't know if he was ever any good, but judging at the talent he's able to pull for this movie, that has to say something.
The cast of Simon Pegg, Kate Beckinsale and Rob Riggle gave it their best. The fault was not with them. But the story and the progression and the lack of direction that made sense reduced the actors to mere caricatures. Even the voice acting of Robin Williams was dull and uninspiring.
How do you not see that if a person can make anything happen, he would have made a lot more different decisions in the different scenarios presented to him, rather than what Pegg's character did in those scenarios and even looked like a hapless fool?
The movie started off acceptable in the first act, but by the third act I just wanted to leave because all the characters and their actions did not make sense.
