First time director, James Vanderbilt, has been a writer for The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, White House Down and Zodiac. He's now adapted a screenplay from titled Truth from a book by Mary Mapes, and is directing it himself.
No wonder the style of direction didn't really capture my attention as I watched the trailer. Nothing about the direction stood out, so much so that I can't even tell if the performances from so many great names in here were really good.
But it's the subject matter of the movie that is very interesting. This trailer didn't bring out the tension and suspense the story could have and I hope the direction would be competent enough to elevate that story.
Starring Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford, Topher Grace, Elisabeth Moss, Dennis Quaid and Bruce Greenwood.
As for the poster, I'm not too big of a fan of these split posters but I think it captures who the two characters are from the trailer.
