Pacific Rim 2 Delayed Indefinitely

It was more than a year ago when director Guillermo del Toro announced a sequel was in the works and even had a release date for 2017. Even then I was a bit skeptical.

But last week, ComingSoon has confirmed that the sequel is not only delayed by Universal Pictures, but the studio has no plans for it in the near future.

Del Toro, in his never-say-die attitude, talked to Entertainment Weekly recently and said that the script is still being written and they are working on a budget for the movie:

"We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks. As far as I'm concerned, it's not gone. We're still on it... It moved further, I may do another movie in the middle."

But if you know Del Toro, he has so many projects up in the air at a given time and many of those projects never come into fruition. Just like Hellboy 3.

So will Pacific Rim 2 ever see the light of day even if die-hard fans are clamoring for it?
