Transformers 5 And An Animated Prequel Next

A few months back we've heard Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay hiring an eclectic team of writers to be the brainchild of future Transformers movies which would include sequels and prequels and even animated movies.

Today, two projects seemed to have been given the green light, as reported by Deadline.

First is the immediate sequel to Transformers: Age Of Extinction, which we shall just call it Transformers 5 for now. And leader of the writers' room, Akiva Goldsman, will be writing a script in which Bay himself may direct (he has yet to make that confirmation). But the movie will see Mark Wahlberg back again to star. No word yet whether his onscreen daughter, played by Nicola Peltz, and other co-stars will return.

Second one is to be written by Ant-Man scribes, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, will create an animated version which will be a prequel and to be set in the Transformers world of Cybertron.

With more than just these three writers, Deadline also reported that more movies could come out in the next few years from this experiment that Spielberg and Bay create, which they also were the deciding factors after hearing all the pitches.

And most importantly, in my point of view, is that Spielberg has a say in what goes into production and what needs more work. Seeing that only two made it out of the woodwork so far is a good sign, because there were more than 10 writers working on different ideas and those were deemed not worthy yet.

I was strongly against Bay directing another installment, but seeing as there could be a great story resulting from this brainchild, I wouldn't be completely opposed to the idea; although had someone else taken over that would be best.

No word yet on any release date so far.
