Neill Blomkamp's Alien Sequel On Hold

Earlier this year director Neill Blomkamp has confirmed that 20th Century Fox has agreed to let him direct Alien 5, after what I thought back then was a publicity stunt when Blomkamp released some of his reimagined images of the Alien monster to get fans excited and consequenetly back him up to make another Alien sequel.

Apparently, it wasn't so much a publicity stunt since now, with Ridley Scott making a huge comeback with The Martian; the creator of the Alien franchise seems to be putting a roadblock in front of the newbie pending the release of his Prometheus sequel - which is now titled, Alien: Paradise Lost.

Should the result be a successful one, Scott may not want Blomkamp touching his franchise! Or may want Blomkamp to work within his sandbox; then it would be up to Blomkamp to accept his fate or move on.

At this point, Blomkamp himself has made the announcement on his Twitter account that his project is now put on hold and he'll be working on other movies first. Leviathan, perhaps?

A pity as I really am curious and interested to see Blomkamp's take, especially when he has successfully courted Sigourney Weaver back, too.

The Blomkamp sequel was supposed to be out on 31 December 2017. But now, I'm not optimistic at all.
