G.I. Joe And Micronauts Following Transformers Footsteps With Writer's Rooms

Earlier this year, Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay created a writers room as the brainchild for a Transformers Universe, planning for more movies and spin-offs.

And in September, we learned that there will be two immediate movies to go into production. One to be written by Akiva Goldsman, which will be the immediate sequel to Transformers: Age Of Extinction. The other will be an animated prequel.

According to Deadline, over the last weekend, Paramount Pictures is planning to replicate that success of the writer's room for another 80's cartoon franchise, G.I. Joe; as well as another Hasbro owned product, Micronauts.

This can only mean that the previous plans for a G.I. Joe 3 has been scrapped.

Goldsman has been tasked to lead the two writer's rooms and therefore, will no longer be spearheading for the Transformers 5 script. Instead, that responsibility will be passed on to three other writers from the writer's room, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan.

With how bad the Transformers movies have become, I'll need to see this next one to believe the writer's room work. But from all these reports so far, I have to admit it looks encouraging.

And now with Goldsman getting pulled out of Transformers 5 to head two new writer's rooms, it definitely shows the confidence the studio has of him and hopefully we'll get a much better G.I. Joe next.

No other writer's names have been released for each writer's room.
