Again, I did not see this coming. Although, I usually would suspect a trailer dropping immediately after posters are revealed. But because J.J. Abrams said the previous trailer was the last one, so I didn't even take a second wonder.
This international trailer has quite a few new footage. But the main theme of it is around Daisy Ridley's character, Rey - once again confirming that she's the new protagonist of the franchise.
We also got to see a shot of C-3P0 with a few familiar faces in the background. There's also a lot more BB-8 - understandably so as the Japanese are quite the experts when it comes to robotics.
There are a few things which I didn't like though. First was Rey's conversation with BB-8 in the beginning that sounded like cut and stitched. Then there's the scene where Rey and John Boyega's Finn got acquainted. And the that shot of Kylo Ren threatening Rey with his the lightsaber which felt very out of place. Although, you could argue that in the US trailer we saw Kylo force-torturing Oscar Isaac's Poe. That scene flowed smoother though.
There's also this shot of Rey picking up her staff. I'm getting the feeling that the staff means something. It may not be hiding a lightsaber in there but it's definitely more than just a weapon at face value.
One thing's still uncertain - I still can't make out if that's Chewie lying there while Rey's crying her eyes out. But the voice-over is saying, "Hope is not lost today. It is found." So maybe there's hope yet that even if it's Chewie, he's not dead...?
And we finally see a shot of Finn not panting. But strangely there's no Poe at all. Bearing in mind that this is the Japanese market and Lucasfilm is definitely not thinking Poe's character is worth marketing. Which can only mean Poe is far from important, unlike Finn and Rey; at least in this first movie.
We're now just over a month and a week away from the release date. It still feels so long away!
