Aloha - Review (7/10)
Other than the white-washing of the cast, I don't see why this movie deserved such bad reviews. I actually liked it.
There was a good story here with good acting and character development. Cameron Crowe had a vision and direction with the story and his characters and delivered all quite well. Even all the humour worked for me.
The cast of Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, Danny McBride, Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski all played their parts competently. Krasinksi in particular stood out and the comedic timing from Baldwin and Bradley were just right on the spot.
The story by Crowe could have been clearer on the romance part of the story. I think Crowe wanted a stronger political undertone with the island of Hawaii and sacrificed on the romance, which is a shame because when he wants to he can be very strong and this movie could have had more romance.
But to have so many characters shine when they come on the screen with full-on personality, not many writers can accomplish that. And that's why this movie worked for me.
