Ryan Coogler, having been snubbed by Sylvester Stallone for a new Rocky movie, impressed Stallone with Fruitvale Station that the Rocky star immediately called him up to do Creed.
Now Marvel is so impressed with Coogler that they have offered him the director's role for their upcoming Black Panther solo movie.
This is great news for Marvel fans as Coogler is becoming one of the most exciting young directors to watch. I love Creed so much that it may just be my highest rated movie of last year (my Top 10 of 2015 will come soon). Some of the action sequences in Creed were so captivating that I am very interested to see what his direction will look like with a mega-budget and the Marvel vision behind him.
Black Panther will star Chadwick Boseman and is scheduled to be released on 16 February 2018. But before that, we'll see T'Challa himself in Captain America: Civil War.
