Ryan Reynold's Deadpool Continues To Break Records

No one could have predicted this. Deadpool, which 20th Century Fox was only predicting about USD 60 million opening weekend before the movie opened, has somehow achieved a new height that no one saw coming.

The most optimistic pundits that I have come across was only predicting breaking the USD 100 million mark, which in itself is very optimistic already because, 1) Deadpool isn't the most popular superhero (or anti-superhero) out there; and 2) not many R-rated movies open to a weekend of over USD 100 million.

Last year saw Fifty Shades Of Grey setting a highest February opening on the same President's Day holiday weekend with USD 85.1 million.

The highest ever opening weekend for an R-rated movie was set by Matrix Reloaded with USD 91.7 million.

The highest ever opening weekend for an R-rated comic book movie was set by 300 with USD 70.8 million.

20th Century Fox's biggest opening movie was Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith with USD 108.4 million.

Deadpool has broken all those record and the long weekend holiday isn't even over yet with another night to go! The current record now sits incredibly at USD 135 million!

20th Century Fox is now projecting the movie to break USD 150 million after tomorrow. Let's wait and see what that final number is going to be.

But more importantly, Fox has won back the fans in a big way after the disastrous and controversial events with Fantastic Four.

Also, Fox must be seriously considering Ryan Reynolds' plans to bring in X-Force now, with Deadpool becoming the Wolverine of X-Force; or maybe even the next X-Men trilogy.

And with the success of Deadpool, the next X-movie in the works, Gambit, should now begin to pick up steam.
