A first teaser of The Shallows from Sony Pictures has just been released, starring Blake Lively stranded on a piece of rock with a shark circling her.
Watching this teaser trailer, there is a sense of dread with Lively screaming for help and the way the waves are coming in and hitting the camera. But after a while, it feels like a Jaws rip-off because much of that atmospheric element comes from the background music; which again feels like a Jaws rip-off.
I'll wait for the first full trailer to pass judgement, but for now, it can really go either good or bad. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who also did Non-Stop and Run All Night; The Shallows will be out on 24 June 2016.
