While we can still debate on whether or not a remake needs to happen for one of the all-time classics, Ben Hur; this first trailer has given us a better point of view to argue from.
Released by Paramount Pictures and MGM; with Jack Huston as Ben Hur, and a cast that consists of Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, Nazanin Boniadi and Project Almanac's Sofia Black-D'Elia. This trailer does not give me much confidence in the movie.
Main reason is the CGI, which right from the beginning looks very sub-par. For a movie like this, especially when the producers want it to be epic in order to live up to the Charlton Heston's movie, the CGI should not have looked so obvious like it did. Almost every other frame you can tell the background is not real and it's painfully obvious.
But maybe because the movie isn't completely ready yet and the CGI will be blended in more when the movie is officially released on 12 August 2016. The only thing that looks good at the moment is Huston and Kebbell's performance.
