Joseph Gordon-Levitt Exits Neil Gaiman's Sandman

Even though nothing is certain until the cameras start rolling, and in this case, we're nowhere near that kind of production level; but it still comes as a shock that Joseph Gordon-Levitt - the man that's been championing this project - has decided to make his exit at this juncture.

Neil Gaiman's Sandman adaptation to the silver screen has been in the works for more than a year, with Gaiman to act as executive producer, David Goyer to co-produce with Gordon-Levitt - who is set to direct and possibly star.

But when Warner Bros. Pictures decided to move the entire Vertigo comics catalogue to their subsidiary, New Line Cinema, Grodon-Levitt stated in his Facebook account that he and the studio "just don't see eye to eye on what makes Sandman special, and what a film adaptation could/should be".

Gordon-Levitt, always a class act, left the tone positively; but it's hard to see this project moving forward without its heart and soul that have carried it thus far.
