Sony To Develop Spider-Man Villain Venom Movie
After that whole thing that went down with Sony in 2014, all Spider-Man movies and spin-offs have been scrapped. Sony Pictures decided to employ the help of Marvel and Kevin Feige to bring forth a new incarnation of Spider-Man which has been heavily rumoured to make his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War.
The rest of the spin-offs like Sinister Six or the first female-led superhero movie from the Spider-Man universe lost any traction it had. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is now reviving another spin-off, featuring one of Spider-Man's main villain, Venom.
This new franchise is said to be unrelated to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meaning it will not have Tom Holland's Spider-Man in it as well.
Dante Harper has been recruited to write the script; which may turn Venom into an anti-hero, much like last month's runaway hit, Deadpool.
The last time Venom crawled into the silver screen was in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, with Topher Grace playing its human host Eddie Brock.
