After the success of The Peanuts Movie, it's no surprise that the next targeted comic strip would be Garfield; though I would have liked to see Calvin & Hobbes.
Alcon Entertainment has just acquired the rights from Jim Davis, the Garfield comic strip creator, to finance and produce an animated Garfield movie.
Davis will also serve as executive producer, alongside producer of Despicable Me and this week's The Angry Birds Movie, John Cohen.
No word yet on a release date.
