The original Ring from Japan is one of the scariest movies ever made. The Hollywood remake, The Ring, was very decent.
But now, another sequel is being released by Paramount Pictures titled Rings, with the first trailer and poster now available.
Starring a cast of unknown except for Vincent D'Onofrio in probably a small role, this trailer and poster look really bad.
The trailer look like they have taken what's great about the concept and tone of The Ring out of this sequel and just made a commercial horror movie filled with jump scares instead of atmospheric tension.
In other words, a cash grab because it doesn't even look like The Ring anymore.
The poster is just as bad. It just doesn't tie in to the original movie, but probably emphasised that this movie has gotten a new spin to it.
Directed by F. Javier Gutierrez, The Rings will be out on 28 October 2016.
