Billy Crudup Joins Ezra Miller's The Flash
According to Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC have cast Billy Crudup as The Flash's father.
In the lore of The Flash, a.k.a. Barry Allen, it was Barry's mother that died when he was still a boy and that drove him to become who he was. We still don't know if The Flash will be an origin movie at this point, and it does sound a little silly to see him in the Justice League movie first and then backtrack to seeing his origin story. But that might be what DC is going for because Marvel has done the other route.
So it makes sense for the casting of Barry's father, though the movie's storyline may take a very different turn than the TV series "The Flash". But if there is going to be a casting for the mother, then we'll know it's definitely going to be an origin movie.
Ezra Miller will be playing the titular character, and will be directed by Rick Famuyiwa. The Flash will be out somewhere in 2018, that's the estimation at this point.
