Focus Features, in collaboration with Working Title Films, is producing a movie about Winston Churchill.
The studios have also already cast Gary Oldman to play Churchill in an original script written by Anthony McCarten, who also wrote The Theory Of Everything in which he was nominated for an Academy Award; and will be directed by Joe Wright.
What's also interesting to note is that the producers of The Theory Of Everything were brought onboard for this project and they were all Academy Award nominees. Even Oldman, who was nominated for his role in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy which was also under the banners of both studios.
The movie will begin production very soon and has a release date set as 29 December 2017, near the tail end of the award season. This definitely is made for the Oscars.
