Gavin O'Connor To Reboot The Green Hornet

The last Green Hornet from Seth Rogen and Jay Chou didn't perform well to say the least, resulting in zero sequels after that; deeming it a failure.

Now, Deadline has confirmed that Paramount Pictures and Chernin Entertainment have acquired the rights to the movie and has also confirmed that Gavin O'Connor is set to direct.

A Green Hornet reboot wouldn't have gotten me as excited as having O'Connor's name attached to it. Immediately the tone would be very different to the comedic one that we had not so long ago.

O'Connor has also said that this has been his superhero growing up and he has always wanted to make this movie ever since he started in the filmmaking business. His idea and impression about The Green Hornet and Kato are very specific and in a good way that makes me excited just reading what he has to say about it.

No word yet on a release date or casting.
