How do you know if a movie is an Academy Award contender? When even the trailer doesn't sell you on its appeal.
This first trailer of Jackie, starring Natalie Portman, looks quite boring to me. But don't get me wrong, I will still watch it and it may very well be a great movie. But this trailer isn't selling it to me very well. It looks artsy and filled with drama but everything is focused on Portman's character.
There is a very strong supporting cast but this trailer doesn't give them much screentime or lines. Maybe it is still selling the audience on how much Portman's mannerisms and look resembles that of the first-lady - but the teaser trailer previously released has already done that, I thought. Hopefully the second trailer will be better.
Directed by Pablo Larrain, Jackie will be out on 2 December 2016.
