This second trailer smells of desperation, and it shouldn't be because it's catching attention with the title alone.
Released via Jimmy Kimmel Live, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have thrown a lot of things into this trailer, short of a kitchen sink.
Kong wastes no time in making his appearance, and so does everyone and everything else on Skull Island. Will they have anything more to surprise us? But it has become clear that Kong will be fighting other monsters here, so it won't really be Kong versus the humans.
Two posters have also been released, one showing a perspective of Kong while the other has a more retro and Asian feel to it - which is a nice throwback to the old Japanese monster movies. But that one looks a little bit cheesy so my preference is the close-up.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the movie will be out on 10 March 2017.
