Legendary Pictures has announced the official titles for two of their upcoming blockbuster franchises, according to ComingSoon.
First up is Pacific Rim. Maelstrom has been its subtitle for the longest time but now it is officially renamed to Pacific Rim: Uprising. I do however prefer Maelstrom because it's different and not as common as Uprising.
The sequel is being directed by Steven S. DeKnight in Australia and will be out on 23 February 2018.
Next is Godzilla, with the subtitle King Of Monsters, which will be directed by Michael Dougherty who will be replacing Gareth Edwards for reasons undisclosed.
Initially Legendary pushed back the release date for the sequel so that Edwards can finish off Rogue One and then continue his work here. But now with a new date of 22 March 2019, which gives plenty of time to Edwards to return, but the director's chair has been given to Dougherty.
