Not as bad of a news as say The Batman or The Flash losing another director again. Last I checked, James Wan is still directing Aquaman.
The only downside now is that the movie, which has been scheduled to be released on 5 October 2018, is now delayed to 21 December 2018. In Hollywood terms, this is quite normal for a movie to shift dates by a month or two so it's not really out of the ordinary.
The shift did come after James Cameron announced that his first Avatar sequel is being delayed yet again and does not have an exact date as of yet.
Aquaman will now share the same space as the animated Spider-Man movie.
