The second trailer for the highly-anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming has just been released by Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. And it is so far the worst Marvel trailer.
I don't know if this is because it is a trailer cut by Sony's camp, but this trailer looks like it is showing the audience way too much. I did not want to see how the suit actually works from this trailer, nor why or how Peter lost the suit and had to go back to his makeshift one. But they are all in this trailer. And there is even a kiss! Why does this trailer feel desperate?
Also, that final scene in any Marvel trailer usually is something not only new but really punches. This one is not new and has no punch in it.
But I would still give it the benefit of a doubt, however difficult in this case, that we have not seen everything from this trailer; and that Marvel with Sony is keeping a lot of more good stuff away from trailers.
Directed by Jon Watts, the movie will be out on 7 July 2017.
