Paramount Pictures have recruited an up-and-coming talent to direct their Transformers spin-off movie, Bumblebee.
Owner and producer at LAIKA, Travis Knight - who just released and directed the Oscar nominated animated movie, Kubo And The Two Strings - has been tasked to bring Bumblebee as the first Transformer to get their own movie.
There could be arguments made on whether or not Knight's Kubo And The Two Strings was really that great, or if we really need a Bumblebee movie. But enough people liked Kubo and hence Knight is getting the just credit, and enough people enjoy this version of Bumblebee and Paramount probably did a survey on it too.
Bumblebee will mark Knight's directorial debut in the live-action realm, and the movie is slated to be out on 8 June 2018.
