Rupert Sanders once again disappoint but in an even bigger way than Snow White And The Huntsman. To give credit where it is due, the picture looked beautiful. The universe that Sanders created looked and felt just like its source material.
All the slow motion sequences looked fantastic but not all were necessary. Every frame had positive impact aesthetically but it was just unfortunate that nothing happened onscreen storywise made me cared for the characters.
All for one, Batou played by Pilou Asbaek was probably the best thing about the movie. Everyone else felt so dense and blended into the background. Even Scarlett Johansson's Major barely had enough charisma to sustain the audience's attention on her.
And it was none of the actors fault as it felt like that was the way they were directed. The tone of the movie may have been accurate but the characters themselves should have had more personalities than looking exactly the same one after another.
Had this movie been released during the summer, it would have been swallowed by everything else. This was a major disappointment, pun intended.
