Live from Orlando (I mean this piece of news, not that I am in Orlando), Star Wars Celebration celebrating 40th year since the first movie was released, has just completed The Last Jedi panel with Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, BB-8, and Luke Skywalker himself - Mark Hamill.
Right at the end of it, Johnson teased fans with the poster to the initial dismays of the attendees but quickly elevated to glee. This poster is great. No need for words to describe it. It is perfect. Especially that starry glow of the lightsaber which harkens back to the old poster of the first movie.
And then, with even more teasing, the teaser trailer is released. It is way past midnight and I am wide awake. Going through this trailer over and over, and wondering what that last line meant. So much theories going on in my head, but the one theory that I will entertain is that Luke has lost his path in the light, lost the balance of the Force, and wants to end the Jedi.
Enters Rey, whose light is so strong that will guide Luke back to the galaxy to save it.
Also interesting to note, the way this teaser opens up is the same as The Force Awakens' teaser!
