In a surprise announcement from Universal Pictures, a Mama Mia sequel is in the works. And it has gotten as far as having an official title as well as a release date, according to ComingSoon.
Mama Mia: Here We Go Again will be written and directed by Ol Parker, writer for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
To be released almost exactly 10 years since the first movie, which was 18 July 2008, the sequel will be out on 20 July 2018. The full cast roster is expected to return, including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper; and will also introduce new characters.
