[Review] Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny (4/10)

Yuen Woo Ping has choreographed many a great action sequences when it comes to oriental kung fu fight scenes. However, as a director, I have not been impressed.

His latest offering for Netflix, the sequel to the Academy Award winner Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Sword Of Destiny; was a snooze fest.

He had a competent cast to work with, like Michelle Yeoh, Donnie Yen and Jason Lee - all of whom were adept at action movies. However, not one of the action pieces looked inspired. His direction crawled at a pace where it could put you to slumber. And the editing for the action sequences did not help make them look better, but worse.

Newcomers like Harry Shum, Jr. and Natasha Liu Bordizzo were horribly directed, just like the overall story.

As one of the first movies that would revolutionize Netflix, one has to wonder if this was given to Netflix because of its sub par quality. Otherwise Netflix got the short end of the deal.
