[Review] Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (6/10)

In a way, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping was a parody movie that combined the music industry in a documentary style setting.

And Andy Samberg was perfect in his role as he carried the movie the only way he can.

Right off the bat, it was the music and the ridiculous lyrics that really caught my attention and I was actually looking forward to the next number.

The amount of cameos here were also both ridiculous and funny - which was what the three creators were going for, though some of the one-liners were better than others. But, those cameos added to the fun factor of the movie.

Written by the trio that makes up The Lonely Island, and directed by two of them (Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer); they partly showed some of the silly and over-the-top antics of the music industry - specifically in boybands, but also the typical struggles that a group of guys would face in those situations.

To say that there was a good story in here would be pushing it as there was nothing original about it. But as a piece of entertainment, it did what it set out to do. And by the end of it, you would actually be rooting for the three guys.
