Gary Oldman is back in form! It has been a long while since he has had such a meaty role that he can really showcase his talents. Even in the 2011's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy where he was nominated for an Oscar, he was not as good as in this trailer.
This first trailer for Darkest Hour, where Oldman plays Winston Churchill, is a great first trailer released by Focus Features. With Churchill's monologue playing at the background of the video, it really gives a sense of the foreboding war; emphasized by the music and the tone of the trailer.
Written by Anthony McCarten, who also wrote The Theory Of Everything, which he was nominated an Oscar for; the movie also stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James and Ben Mendelsohn.
Directed by Joe Wright, Darkest Hour will be out on 22 November 2017, which should be follow by some nominations come awards time - including this fantastic make-up on Oldman.
