Actor Ed Skrein recently turned down the role of Major Ben Daimio in the new iteration of Hellboy, starring David Harbour, citing that the character has Asian roots and he did not want to be part of another white-washing scandal.
Which resulted in the producers now having no choice but to look for an Asian actor. And The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Daniel Dae Kim is now in negotiations.
Kim, of TV series "Lost" and "Hawaii Five-O" fame, if negotiations are successful, will play the character of Japanese descent and can shape-shift into a jaguar because of a curse.
Produced by Lionsgate and directed by Neil Marshall, the reboot will be out some time in 2018.
