New Line Cinema has officially announced the release date for the IT sequel after the first movie has just surpassed The Exorcist at the box office as the most successful horror movie of all time.
Maybe the studio has already fixed this date for the sequel internally, or maybe they did not want to jump the gun and wanted to have the assurance of the first movie's success - which is a smart move; but they have now made the announcement that the sequel will arrive on 6 September 2019.
And director Andres Muschietti is expected to be returning to direct again, though that is not official yet unfortunately.
