DC's Deathstroke To Be Directed By Gareth Evans

After Deathstroke has been dropped by Matt Reeves to be the villain in The Batman, many felt a pang of sadness because Joe Manganiello would have been a great Deathstroke.

(From a script by Ben Affleck and when he was still attached as director for The Batman, he released a short clip of  Manganiello in full Deathstroke costume entering into the frame from smoke, which helped solidify that belief with fans.)

Enter Gareth Evans, the director that brought us The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2, with a pitch for a Deathstroke solo movie; the executives at Warner Bros. Pictures and DC seem to love it enough to greenlight a screenplay for Evans to kick-start the project.

I'm expecting a lot of kick-ass hand-to-hand combat

Which character in the DC camp is not getting a solo movie these days?

The Wrap reported that Evans initially was offered to direct DC's Justice League Dark but passed on the project, but came back and pitched a Deathstroke solo movie instead.

If the screenplay is a success, we may see a Deathstroke movie even before Suicide Squad 2 or the one-off Joker solo movie.
