Walt Disney Pictures has decided on their lead actress for the upcoming Mulan live-action remake.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chinese actress Liu Yifei (a.k.a. Crystal Liu) will be playing Mulan. Liu was last seen in Outcast with Nicolas Cage back in 2014.
Liu was cast as she checked all the criteria boxes that Disney has put out, including English-speaking and adept in martial arts; and most importantly, star power.
Disney has taken a whole year searching for the perfect casting across five continents, and it seems like fans are very happy with this selection.
Directed by Niki Caro, Mulan will be out some time in 2019.
