[Editorial] My Top 10 Moments In Avengers: Infinity War (SPOILER WARNING)

Having seen Avengers: Infinity War three times now and planning a fourth, my favourite moments of the movie have not diminished with each viewing thus far.

So let me do a recount of these moments with a countdown. Here's my Top 10 favourite moments of Avengers: Infinity War.

10) Doctor Strange's uses of portals in fights

One of my favourite scenes in X-Men: Days Of Future Past was Blink using her powers to transport her and her allies to different locations during battles, as well as strategizing different types of attacks in the most creative of ways.

To a slightly lesser extent, Doctor Strange did just that on Titan when going up against Thanos. One of the funnest way was teaming up with Spider-Man to land multiple punches on Thanos. And also as the escape route for Star-Lord while he gave the finger to Thanos. It's just fun to see each individual using their powers when in a team-up. And this was the first time we see a proper team-up between these new characters.

9) The team-up against Thanos on Titan

Iron Man, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Doctor Strange, Drax and Mantis were the first to encounter Thanos. And the plan, allegedly concocted by Star-Lord, was so good that they almost succeeded in defeating Thanos - or at least remove the gauntlet from his left hand.

That whole sequence that ended with Mantis droping from Doctor Strange's portal onto Thanos' shoulders left me in awe and also disbelief that they were about to achieve the impossible.

8) Scarlet Witch versus Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight

Vision, the love of her life, was injured. There were two powerful aliens attacking them. Having nowhere else to run and Vision could no longer fight, Scarlet Witch did not hesitate even for a second as she stood her ground, summoned her hex powers, and prepares the fight to her finish.

And this quickly led to...

7) Captain America's first appearance

There was no other way to celebrate than to just cheer when Steve Rogers stepped into the light at the train station to reveal his bearded face. Right there and then we knew Vision and Scarlet Witch would live to fight another day.

6) Loki's death

The opening scene of the movie was a brilliant introduction to Thanos and his Black Order. With Thor laying on the floor, and just that little twitch of his hand, showed the audience how dire the whole situation was.

And just when we thought Loki was about to betray Thor yet again, he became the noblest of them all and tried, in vain, to kill Thanos.

Thanos rewarded him with a choking death, coupled with Tom Hiddleston's acting, that was definitely a chilling scene to behold.

5) Okoye's disdain at Bruce Banner

Just as the crowd started cheering when we saw Banner suited up in the latest Hulkbuster, he had to trip and fall.

Just as the crowd started chuckling at that fumble, hard cut to Danai Gurira's look of disgust and disdain at this "Coloniser" who, in her eyes, was making a fool out of himself.

She just elevated the humour to another level with just her expression. And if you could remember her character from Black Panther solo movie, and understanding who she was, this scene just kept on giving.

4) Scarlet Witch realising she had to kill Vision

She kept saying no right until the end, and at that moment even she had to come to terms with how powerful Thanos was and that the only way to stop him was to destroy the Mind Stone - and Vision with it.

Vision knew what had to be done, Scarlet Witch did not want to hear it and turned around to face Thanos. He pulled her back, and when she turned to face him, that sadness and resolve on her face said it all. Her acting, the Russo's buildup to that moment, all came crashing down to that moment. And as she held back her tears, she broke my heart.

3) Scarlet Witch watching Vision die the second time

What?! Scarlet Witch literally forced herself to kill the one she loved only to see Thanos turn back time, brought Vision back to life just so he could kill him again. And she had to watch Vision die in an even more horrific way the second time. That was the cruelest, but delivered in such a great way by the Russo Brothers that I would not want to unsee it.

2) Captain America and Black Panther taking the lead

As Black Panther ordered for the barrier to be opened, the Outriders poured through. A battle cry was called and then we see all the Wakanda warriors running forward to take on the Outriders.

And then we saw it, Captain America and Black Panther's super speed propelled them forward, all the way to the front of the line. They did not show fear nor hesitation, they were clear what had to be done, and that was the perfect example of leading by example.

Seeing them run almost made me got off my seat to stand and cheer them on.

1) Thor's arrival with Groot and Rocket Raccoon.

Just when the Outriders overpowered all our heroes, the Bifrost opened up to deliver, first Stormbreaker to save our heroes, and then Thor, Groot and Rocket Raccoon appeared in a superhero pose, with the Avengers theme song by Alan Silvestri in the background.

There's really no word to describe that joy. Not just the joy of seeing Thor coming to the rescue, but the joy of having characters from your childhood being brought to the silver screen in such a big way. I teared up.
