[Review] Incredibles 2 (8/10)
After 14 years, the story in Incredibles 2 picked up right where The Incredibles left off, and that is to go battle Underminer - a character I would have liked to see a bit more of from the movie actually.
But the story went right into real and worldly issues about our society today (just like The Incredibles did) with the mother going out to work and the father being a stay-at-home-dad.
What I also appreciated was that even though the family came together at the end of the first movie and all differences seemed to have made right, the second movie went right back into those family issues - because this is what happens in real life. Every day is another learning experience.
The two new characters voiced by Catherine Keener and especially Bob Odenkirk were great. Odenkirk suited his character just perfect because that is who Odenkirk is, much like his character in "Better Call Saul".
One of the best parts of the movie was once again Edna, voiced by director Brad Bird. That whole sequence was hilarious and unforgettable.
Frozone voiced by Samuel L. Jackson was also another highlight whenever he appeared as his super alter ego. You can also see the CGI this time for the ice looked better than the original.
Again, the family values did come through from the story, though just not as strongly as in the first one as the main plot this time was about the legalizing of "supers" (a little nod to the previous events in the MCU); and Jack-Jack's super powers.
And that was one issue I had with the movie, Jack-Jack seemed to be able to do anything; as if there was no limitations. I believe in the third movie they would have to narrow those powers down, otherwise anything is possible and that would contribute to the failure of any story.
Even though this was a very entertaining sequel, it fell a bit short from the first movie by just a little bit. But still, this franchise is still the best version of a Fantastic Four movie.
