[Review] Love, Simon (7.5/10)
Producer Greg Berlanti seldom directs and his first outing Life As We Know It was unmemorable. This time, he struck gold with Love, Simon; which catapulted him to the director's chair of a bigger budgeted movie, Booster Gold.
I saw the trailer a few months back but did not think very highly of it as I thought it was just another YA kind of flavour. But turns out this has a lot of heart inside a coming-of-age story.
The subject matter is great for this era as we move into a society that is more open and acceptable of one another. There is a great and touching lesson about acceptance from the people closest to you, but also lessons about betrayal and friendship.
The cast was great, with Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel. Robinson is turning out to be more and more interesting to watch.
Also a good supporting cast with Katherine Langford, Logan Miller and Alexandra Shipp. This is definitely worth a watch and could even be rewatchable.
