Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Djimon Hounsou has joined the cast and will be playing The Wizard, replacing Ron Cephus Jones citing scheduling conflict.
Hounsou's character is the one that bestows young Billy with the powers of Shazam, who previously for many years has been known as Captain Marvel - the same name as Marvel's upcoming first female-led superhero Captain Marvel.
It is also interesting to note that Hounsou is set to return to the MCU as Korath in Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, a prequel of sorts in the MCU set in the 90's. It will be out on 8 March 2019 - just shy of a month from Shazam! It is going to be a clash of the Captain Marvels.
