[Review] The Nun (4/10)
Title - The Nun
Studio - Warner Bros. Pictures
Starring - Demian Birchir, Taissa Farmiga, Bonnie Aarons
Writer - Gary Dauberman
Director - Corin Hardy
Release - 7 September 2018
This movie was as bad as the first Annabelle spin-off. Corin Hardy is always hit or miss. His resume only has IT that was great but he didn't write that alone. The rest, like Annabelle and Annabelle: Creation were weak as well so I don't know why WB keeps getting him back, even for the third Annabelle movie.
Oh, right, because these movies keeps making money for the studio.
Hardy on the other hand was able to create creepy scenarios but there was nothing original about these scenes. His best work here, the best scare, was already seen in the trailer where Farmiga's character was walking down a hallway with a lamp and a nun was behind her while another attacks from her right.
All the best parts were already seen in the trailers. The rest of the story did not make sense to me. How many nuns were there supposed to be? Why were there so many evil nuns? The story was supposed to be about how the demon needed a body in order to survive. Why were there so many other nuns roaming around even after they are dead? And why was that last scene where the nuns are hiding Farmiga's character while Aarons had to go find her? And if you were going into the final fight, wouldn't all the good guy stay together and not split up like what they stupidly did?
There are just so many questions that could not be answered and it's just frustrating to see this becoming another typical, lousy, horror movie.
