[Review] Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 7 Episode 6 The Journey Within

Voltron: Legendary Defender
Season 7 Episode 6: The Journey Within

I am continuously impressed by the series that has been fantastically written by the writing staff. The few directors that have been working on the series since the beginning also have done a great job in keeping the tone consistent throughout.

This seventh season is a longer one compared to the last few as we are getting 13 episodes instead of only six or seven.

The episode six, "The Journey Within", has been another big eye-opener because the creative team was not afraid to really delve deep into heavier, psychological issues that this episode was all about.

It was a very scary episode as the heroes got lost in space, drifting in blackness for what seemed like an eternity. And their minds started to deteriorate; at times someone showed symptom of going crazy, at another someone turned on the whole team.

I thought this was beautifully and very carefully done, not losing what Voltron the series was about and still managed to keep things fresh and edgy.

I hope to see more of this type of writing in other animated series, dealing with issues that the Japanese have been doing so well with their anime that pushes the boundary of being a show suitable for kids.

We live in a different, not-so-innocent world, and our entertainment outlets should be more relatable and, more importantly, give some life lessons for the viewers.
