Today's announcements from WB and the DC camp feels like a well thought-out strategy. It is not announcing a slew of DC properties for the next three or five years, but it is only targeting one particular year, 2021.
Not only is there an official date for a Suicide Squad 2, as well as a DC Super Pets movie coming on 21 May of that year, according to Deadline, this announcement also brings with it a release date for the long-gestating Batman movie.
Matt Reeves has been announced to take over the reins from Ben Affleck since two years ago, but no further development was heard until today.
The long-rumoured, will-he-won't-he of Affleck once again donning the black cape (or very dark grey) has also been confirmed by Deadline, that a new search for a younger Batman / Bruce Wayne is underway.
Reeves also stated that this installment will focus on Batman being the detective.
