One of the things that I really miss about the first movie was the fight scenes in the ring. Steven Caple, Jr. did a good job with this one but I still missed Ryan Coogler's style.

There were a lot of things in this sequel that I didn't really care for. The drama with the baby, for one, which I thought felt like adding on to an already stacked side plot.

Also, the way Rocky turned down Creed the first time and so easily, and also the way Creed rushed into the whole fight. It mirrored the plot from the old Rocky franchise and for me, those parts were the ones that did not appeal to me. What I loved so much about the first Creed was the new characters had to create a new bond and a new relationship which made the story fresh. This one felt like it went back to the old ways which I did not like.

Having said that, however, there were a lot of throwback to the old Rocky franchise. What Coogler did with the first Creed was take a whole new spin to to the franchise. This sequel went back to the roots and had a lot of nostalgia.

There were moments of levity but they were not as pronounced. The proposal sequence did not feel smooth and even started awkwardly - took me a while to get that they were going for humour.

As a franchise, this felt like they were closing out both the chapters of Creed and Rocky. I really don't see any other follow-up stories without rehashing again from the multiple Rocky movies. This looked like a good place to close the franchise for good.
