Avengers: Endgame has just surpassed USD 2.19 billion, making it the second highest grossing movie of all time behind James Cameron's Avatar. In its rampage, it has kicked Cameron's Titanic to the third position now. All that stands in the way between the top position now is another USD 500 million.
But what is more important to note is the speed Endgame has managed to achieve this feat. In less than two weekends, Endgame has surpassed its predecessor, Infinity War's lifetime gross of USD 2.0 billion.
During its first weekend, it has also achieved an unprecedented, not even USD 300 million, but a whopping USD 357 million. It would be very hard pressed for another movie to achieve this anytime soon.
But will it catch Avatar, this is the question now. And USD 500 million may not seem a lot given what the film has already achieved, but the figure resembles close to the whole theatrical run of say, Ant-Man.
It won't be easy. It now depends on the collective ticket sales in the next couple of months across the world. And most of everyone has already seen the movie if they wanted to. So it really depends on how many times people want to rewatch this.
