[Review] Suspiria (4/10)
Title - Suspiria
Studio - Amazon Studios
Starring - Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia Goth, Jessica Harper
Writer - David Kajganich
Director - Luca Guadagnino
Release - 2 November 2018
A very slow and confusing movie, even though it is made with a throwback feel of older horror films.
Granted, this was a remake, however, it felt like this new movie needed updating for better pacing issue. Which is strange because Luca Guadagnino's previous movie, Call Me By Your Name was such a great movie.
A couple of miscast, especially with Chloe Grace Moretz whose physique did not resembled that of a professional dancer, nor would she have blended in with the rest of the dancers.
Dakota Johnson is just not that good of an actress to be able to pull off this role. Right up until the very end and I still did not know who she actually was because her acting did not allow for that interpretation.
And then there was Tilda Swinton who had to take up dual roles for no apparent reason.
It ultimately was a very weird film whereby at times I was thinking it must have been very weird to be the actor in that specific scene.
Still, visually some of these scenes were horrifically entertaining; if you like a lot of blood.
