[Review] Yesterday (9/10)

Title - Yesterday
Studio - Universal Pictures
Starring - Himesh Patel, Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Joel Fry, Ed Sheeran
Writer - Richard Curtis
Director - Danny Boyle
Release - 28 June 2019

I'm very late to the Yesterday party as this is the final week in local cinemas, but I'm so glad I caught this because I almost didn't bother to.

The Good:

- Lily James was a pure delight. She blended into the story even though her beauty could have easily stood out like a rose in a hill of hay.

- Himesh Patel also was a perfect casting choice as the reluctant rock star. And his chemistry with James was surprisingly believable.

- Joel Fry used sparingly but every time he's onscreen he was funny and effective.

- Danny Boyle once again skillfully created this beautiful love story that had no cheesy or trite stuff, just everything felt very natural and realistic.

- That last new song from Ed Sheeran gave me the feels. It fit perfectly into that part of the movie.

The Bad:

- It's a long movie that I thought could have been slightly tighter in parts. But almost every scene was necessary and added to the story.

And with the subject matter of The Beatles never existed, this world felt real enough that I needed no explanation and was very happy with the way it ended.
