While it was great to see the team back together again, the magic that made the previous movie so adorable was no longer able to carry this one throughout.
Definitely, one of the best part was to see Johnson and Hart channel DeVito and Glover respectively. That was the gimmick for this one.
But going back to do another mission in almost the same world got a little lethargic once we got through the first act.
Nick Jonas is still not good enough to come in halfway and inject some needed energy to a movie, maybe not yet but I'm also doubtful about whether he could improve to that level or be big enough a star.
Awkwafina, however, was that. She keeps getting likeable in movies especially if, like me, you have just watched The Farewell. Also, I really think Karen Gillan is coming to her own in Hollywood.
The best part of the movie has to be on the wooden bridges and the mandrills. If you want to make, say, action figures (no action figures available thus far), that is the section of the movie where you make reference to.
By the end of the second act, I was thinking they can't do this a third time. They would have to bring in bigger stars like maybe a Ryan Reynolds to be able to get my interest level up.
But, to see how the movie ended, I'm slightly interested.
