It's official. Star Wars: The Last Jedi was Rian Johnson's fluke. Because this guy can direct and he can write. The weakness in The Last Jedi, I now can say, was most likely because of the sandbox that he was ordered to play in.

I loved Looper and I loved Knives Out. Original movies might be better suited for Johnson.

The way Johnson crafted this story from start to finish was a delight. It kept me guessing (well, not too much because I was happy to just sit back and enjoy as each scene appeared in front of me), and the twists and turns right up until the very end were a joy to watch.

The characters Johnson created, and the direction he gave his cast, were brilliant. Daniel Craig turned in another character that was probably fun for him to play and fun for us to watch. Ana de Armas was the co-lead and she carried the movie really well under the supervision of Johnson.

The only part that I did not completely enjoy was when the leads had to leave the house and pursue a clue. And this was only because everything happening inside the house was just brilliant.

But this was an amazing cast who did amazing work for this movie. And Johnson's delivery kept peeling revelation after revelation with each turn. We are lucky to be able to witness this type of movie again today.
